Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden Spa & Resort is entering a new phase with Sunniva Fallan Röd now taking over as CEO. Under
the second half of 2026 the hotel will open its first refurbished sections, an important step in the work to re-establish
Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden Spa & Resort as an international world-class destination.
Sunniva Fallan Röd has 30 years of experience in the hotel, restaurant, and spa industry, with a solid background
in both operational and strategic leadership roles. She most recently comes from the role of CEO of Sturebadet and has previously been CEO of Yasuragi. In parallel with her operational assignments, she has held several board positions within
industry organisations, including Visita and Svenska Spahotell, where she is also today the chairperson of the board.
The Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden Spa & Resort has a unique history and a soul that few hotels can match.
"My ambition is, together with skilled colleagues and the owner family, to manage the legacy while simultaneously developing it into a modern, international premium destination where the experience is central, from gastronomy to spa and world-class guest service," says Sunniva Fallan Röd. Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden Spa & Resort opened in 1893 on the initiative of Knut Agathon Wallenberg and carries a rich history as one of Sweden's most iconic meeting places. With its unique location in Stockholm's inner archipelago, the hotel was a central part of the vision for
Saltsjöbaden as an exclusive seaside and recreational resort, often described as the Riviera of Sweden.
Since 2022, the hotel has been owned by entrepreneur Mikael Solberg and his family, who are driving its development into an international five-star hotel through a long-term investment. Under Sunniva Fallan Röd's leadership, the transformation continues, where historic architecture meets modern comfort, gastronomy, and top-tier experiences.
- Our ambition from the outset has been to give Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden Spa & Resort the position it deserves as an international five-star hotel. With Sunniva, we gain a CEO who has both the experience and the clear leadership required to take us all the way there, says Mikael Solberg. The goal is to establish the hotel as an obvious choice for both Swedish and international guests, and to once again put Saltsjöbaden on the map as a world-class destination.
