Survey: 15 percent say no to flying

15 percent avoid flying on vacation due to climate effects.

This is evident from a new survey conducted by Sifo on behalf of Svenska Dagbladet. At the same time, 74 percent respond that they would not refrain from flying for the sake of the environment, while the remaining 11 percent are unsure.

Anna Elofsson, a doctoral student at Chalmers who researches aviation and the environment, believes that the proportion of flight avoiders in the survey is at a relatively high level.

”"If the question had been asked two or three years ago, the number would probably have been lower. I think the debate about flying that is currently taking place is making more people think twice," she tells SvD.

It is also clear that the tendency to avoid flying is greatest among environmentalists, followed by left-wingers.

The survey is based on responses from just over 1,100 people between the ages of 18 and 79.
