Swedavia is now deepening its collaboration with the Stockholm Pride organization and becoming a bronze partner for a three-year period.
Swedavia has collaborated with and been an exhibitor at Stockholm Pride since 2011, and this year's participation will be the eighth in the series.
– Swedavia is purposefully committed to contributing to more sustainable development and to promoting the equal rights and value of all people, says Tove Möller, responsible for diversity and social sustainability at Swedavia.
Stockholm Pride works to strengthen the life situation and rights of LGBT people. The association's aim is to make the heteronorm and LGBT people visible in society at large. The festival is a joyful free zone for LGBT people, and works to ensure that LGBT people can take their place in the public space.
– It is a given for us at Swedavia that we contribute to the work that Stockholm Pride is working towards every day of the year. The fact that this is then crowned with the annual Pride Festival, which this year is also EuroPride, is for us and many committed employees one of the highlights of the year, Tove continues.
Being a clearly inclusive and welcoming employer becomes even more important in light of studies such as that by researcher Sara Ahlstedt, Linköping University, which indicate that LGBTQ youth sometimes limit their choice of profession or field of study based on whether they believe they will be accepted in their future profession.
– Swedavia needs to attract expertise that reflects society and is convinced that differences enrich and lead to better operations, says Tove.
At the end of March 2018, Swedavia was awarded an award for a serious, long-term and dedicated commitment to diversity in the workplace by the Scandinavian Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.
– We view Swedavia's involvement in Stockholm Pride very positively. Swedavia works actively with LGBTQ issues in its own organization and we are pleased that we have now signed a three-year agreement to continue working together for a more open society, says Britta Davidsohn, chairwoman of Stockholm Pride.
At this year's Stockholm Pride/EuroPride from July 27 to August 5, Swedavia will be present with its own tent during the festival, as well as a vehicle in the parade.
