Just over 2.6 million passengers travelled through Swedavia's ten airports in April, which is slightly higher than the previous year. International travel continued to develop positively while domestic travel decreased. In this year's summer traffic program, several airlines are continuing to invest in new traffic and around 20 new routes will be added for the summer. Ryanair is adding another aircraft at Arlanda and one aircraft at Landvetter, and Norwegian is reopening its pilot base at Arlanda.
The strong demand for international travel continued in April. The trend for domestic travel in the southern part of Sweden follows the development of previous months and is weaker, while Swedavia's regional airports in the north, Umeå, Luleå and Kiruna, have higher demand.
During April to June, a number of new flight routes will be launched, opening a total of around 20 new flight routes. Norwegian is launching a new route to Bucharest from Arlanda in May.

During April, just over 2.6 million passengers travelled via Swedavia's ten airports. This corresponds to 82 percent of the levels before 2019 and the same levels as April 2024. For international travel, an increase of three percent is noticeable, generally driven by increased demand during Easter and holidays/weekends and school holidays, while domestic travel continued to decrease compared to April 2024, mainly in the southern parts of Sweden with a decrease of just under seven percent.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Sweden's largest airport, saw a six percent increase in passengers compared to April 2024. International travel increased by almost three percent while domestic travel rose by 22 percent. In total, over 1.9 million passengers travelled via Arlanda during April, which is 96 percent of 2019 levels. International travel reached 1.6 million passengers, an increase of 48,500 compared to April 2024, while domestic travel increased to over 335,000 passengers.
Just over 424,000 passengers passed through Gothenburg Landvetter Airport, Sweden's second largest airport, in April, which is a marginal decrease from the previous year. For international travel, the levels are similar to April 2024 with 381,000 passengers, while domestic travel decreased by nine percent to just under 43,000 passengers. In April, the total passenger levels at Landvetter were 77 percent of the levels in 2019.
At the other eight Swedavia airports, a varying development of passenger levels was seen during April. Compared to April 2024, the strongest passenger development was noted at Luleå Airport with an increase of just over nine percent, Kiruna Airport increasing by eight percent and Umeå Airport advancing by six percent. Bromma Stockholm Airport still accounts for the weakest development compared to April 2024.
