Demand for air travel continued to strengthen via Swedavia's ten airports during April. International traffic is affected to some extent by the situation in the Middle East in particular. In total, air travel increased by five percent compared to April 2025. International travel increased by just over five percent and domestic travel increased by four percent.
In total, nearly 2.8 million passengers flew through Swedavia's airports. The positive development in April was driven by continued demand for both international and domestic travel. Although the development varies locally between airports, almost all airports – with the exception of Kiruna and Åre Östersund – showed an increase.
International traffic continues to be affected to some extent by external factors, primarily by the situation in the Middle East but also marginally by strikes during the month. However, overall the development remained positive.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Sweden's largest airport, had just over two million passengers in April. This was an increase of four percent compared to April last year. International travel increased by just over four percent to nearly 1.7 million passengers and domestic travel increased marginally by one percent to just over 337,000 passengers.
Gothenburg Landvetter Airport had just under 455,000 passengers in April. This was an increase of seven percent compared to last year's travel in the same month. International travel increased by eight percent to just over 410,000 passengers, while domestic travel increased by four percent to just over 44,000 passengers.
Swedavia's other eight airports showed a positive overall development with local differences during April. Visby Airport followed by Malmö Airport increased the most of the regional airports, 37 and 14 percent respectively in April compared to the same month last year. Domestic travel was the driving force behind the increase for Visby Airport, while international travel drove the increase for Malmö Airport. Bromma Stockholm Airport had a total of just over 8,500 travelers in April, which corresponded to four percent of pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
