During February, Swedavia's ten airports had close to 2.2 million passengers, which is 4 percent higher than last year's February, continued to be driven by international travel, which increased by 8 percent during the month. The passenger development has benefited from increased sports holiday travel, especially from Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Gothenburg Landvetter Airport but also Umeå Airport and Åre Östersund Airport. The airports are now preparing for the summer traffic season that begins at the turn of March/April, which means increased availability at Swedavia's airports with around 25 new routes so far, of which 10 are completely new destinations.

"We have had strong holiday travel, which has characterised travel via our major airports as well as our regional airports in the north. International travel increased by 8 percent compared to February last year, while domestic traffic decreased, albeit at a lower rate than the month before," says Jonas Abrahamsson, Swedavia's President and CEO.

-Despite concerns such as a weak economy, inflation and an uncertain environment, travel continues to be prioritized. Ahead of the summer traffic season, which starts at the end of March, our line and destination offering is being further strengthened with almost 25 lines so far. Among other things, there is a significant improvement in accessibility to North America, says Jonas Abrahamsson.

According to the press release.
