During September, air travel at Swedavia's ten airports increased by two percent compared to September 2023. The development is driven by continued strong demand for international travel. International travel increased by four percent while domestic travel decreased by three percent. At several regional airports, including Kiruna and Ronneby, domestic travel developed positively during the month. Arlanda and Landvetter had the strongest international development and increased by six percent and five percent respectively.
"Investments in efficient travel via Stockholm Arlanda Airport are important for ensuring good accessibility throughout the country in the long term. It is therefore natural that domestic traffic, which has had weak development for several years, is now also concentrated at Arlanda. A strong Arlanda is important both from an accessibility perspective and for Swedish competitiveness," says Jonas Abrahamsson, Swedavia's President and CEO.

In September, just over three million passengers traveled through Swedavia's ten airports. Air travel in September was two percent higher compared to September last year.
International travel increased by four percent to just over 2.3 million travelers, while domestic travel decreased by three percent to just over 723,000 travelers. Total travel via Swedavia's airports in September is at 82 percent of pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Sweden's largest airport, had a total of just over two million passengers in September. This is an increase of five percent compared to September last year. International travel increased by six percent to just over 1.7 million passengers, while domestic travel decreased by two percent to just over 307,000 passengers. Overall, passenger levels at Arlanda in September are at 90 percent of pre-pandemic levels.
Gothenburg Landvetter Airport had a total of just over 512,000 passengers during September. This is three percent more passengers compared to September last year. International travel increased by five percent to just over 460,000 passengers, while domestic travel decreased by nine percent to just over 52,000 passengers. Passenger levels at Landvetter in September are at 81 percent of pre-pandemic levels.
The other eight Swedavia airports had a varying development in September. Kiruna Airport followed by Ronneby Airport had the best passenger development in September compared to September 2023. Kiruna Airport, followed by Luleå Airport, had the best passenger development in September compared to pre-pandemic levels. Bromma Stockholm Airport, followed by Malmö Airport, had the weakest development in September compared to September last year.
