The government has now decided that the Nämdö archipelago in the outer archipelago of Stockholm will become a national park, which means that Sweden will have its 31st national park. Work to make the Nämdö archipelago a national park began in 2020. It consists of a large sea area that includes approximately 1,300 islands, islets and skerries. The area is considered to be of great importance for biodiversity and the new national park will be Sweden's second national park with a marine focus.
The Nämdö Archipelago National Park will be inaugurated during the week between August 30 and September 7. Below you will find a short clip where the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency tells a little more about the Nämdö Archipelago.
