The well-known Curators of Sweden initiative, where one person a week was allowed to tweet on the @sweden account, is being discontinued after seven years.
Curators of Sweden started in 2011 on the initiative of the Swedish Institute and Visit Sweden and has since received both attention and awards, both domestically and internationally.
The aim of the project has been to increase interest in Sweden. Each week, a new private individual has taken over the account, tweeting about everything from everyday matters to politics and answering questions about Sweden.
– Curators of Sweden was a groundbreaking initiative when it was launched. Among the most enjoyable things about the project have been everyone who has been inspired by the concept and all the emails and calls from organizations and countries that have wanted to do something similar, says Anna Rudels, head of the department for digitization and communication at the Swedish Institute, in a press release.
Curators of Sweden's last tweet will be published on September 30th.
