As the Swedish high summer approaches, demand for sustainable travel options is increasing. SJ is now releasing over 200,000 extra tickets so that more people can travel sustainably this summer. In total, the offering is being expanded with over 700 departures to destinations across the country.
The extra trains will run on popular routes such as Stockholm – Gothenburg, Stockholm – Malmö/Copenhagen and Stockholm – Umeå. Tickets are already available for purchase on SJ.se and via SJ's app.
– We've seen enormous demand for train travel this summer, and therefore we've carried out intensive planning work and managed to secure even more vehicles and staff to man the trains, which now increases our capacity ahead of the peak season, explains Petter Essén, Head of Traffic and Vehicle Programmes at SJ.
The new departures will be introduced on routes across the country and are evenly distributed across the days of the week. This means that SJ travellers will have significantly more departures to choose from when planning their holiday, and it will be easier to find a summer trip to loved ones that suits. The routes will be served by SJ's high-speed and regional trains, as well as the upgraded X 2000 train.
SJ's lines with additional departures this summer:
