These are some of the characteristics of the classic Swedish seaside hotels that have welcomed summer guests since the turn of the last century. Many of these idyllic gems still exist, while their warm atmosphere also lives on in modern versions with contemporary comfort. Here are some of Sweden's lovely seaside and spa hotels - perfect destinations as summer approaches! 

Sweden's long coastline offers timeless holiday experiences where the sea is always nearby and relaxation is the focus. Staying at a seaside hotel is a tradition that stretches back far into time, and during spring and summer a few days at the coast can offer an excellent opportunity to recharge your batteries. Sweden has everything from historic hotels with 19th-century charm to stylish spa facilities, all with a common focus on calming environments, good food and well-being. Vitemölla Bath Hotel, Kivik 
Vitemölla Badhotell was built in 1913 and is today one of Sweden's preserved seaside hotels from the turn of the century. Located on the eastern coast of Skåne by the beach in Vitemölla, you will stay at a cozy fishing camp next to natural areas such as Vitemölla Strandbackar, Haväng, Stenshuvud National Park and Natura 2000.

Kivikstrand Bath Hotel, Kivik 
Kivikstrand Badhotell is a charming family-run hotel located in the heart of Kivik, only 25 meters from the beach. The hotel, which was originally Kivik's school from 1879, offers 13 rooms, many of which have a sea view. The restaurant at Kivikstrand serves dishes based on locally produced ingredients, and the hotel's location next to the Skåneleden trail between Haväng and Stenshuvud National Park makes it an ideal starting point for hikes and scenic experiences.

Strandflickornas Havshotell, Lysekil 
Strandflickornas Havshotell is a turn-of-the-century hotel, located in charming Lysekil on Sweden's west coast, where each room has its own story. Live royally in King Oscar II's suite, feel like a skipper in the Captain's Room, enjoy Hanna's cozy maid's room or book the Turkish Consul's room. The rooms at the top of the hotel offer a generously sized roof terrace and a magnificent sea view. Marholmen is a private island in the Roslagen archipelago, perfect for relaxation, nature experiences and good food. The historic place was created by wholesaler Nils Berg and his wife Hanna in the early 20th century and has inspired many over the years, including the artist Elsa Beskow whose beautiful motifs were painted on the ceiling of Grosshandlargården.
