Travel report

Sweden loses one place but remains in the top tier in the World Happiness Report, a survey of people's perceived happiness.

Last year, Sweden came in fourth place in the UN-sponsored report. This year, we have to settle for fifth place. But we beat Norway, which is in sixth place.

As usual, for the ninth year in a row, the list is topped by Finland.

The big rocket is Costa Rica, which is fourth. As recently as 2023, the island nation was first in 23rd place.

The United States is in 23rd place this year, and in the very last place we find Afghanistan.

Around 1,000 people from each country participate in the survey annually.

Top 10:

1. Finland

2. Iceland

3. Denmark

4. Costa Rica

5. Sweden

6. Norway

7. Netherlands

8. Israel

9. Luxembourg

10. Switzerland
