The number of foreign travelers to the region continues to steadily increase.

According to the latest preliminary accommodation statistics from Statistics Sweden, foreign guest nights are increasing steadily during the first half of 2018 by 27 % compared to the previous year. We mainly see an increase in the number of travelers from the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, and Asia.

– We can see a clear trend. International interest in the destination Swedish Lapland is only increasing. As well as the fact that we not only have four seasons here, but eight, we are working to support and develop the tourism industry companies in the region to extend their seasons, develop concepts and find new markets, says Camilla Bondareva, Destination Strategist at the Swedish Lapland Visitors Board
