A new cold record has been broken in Scandinavia.
According to SMHI, the coldest temperature of the century has been recorded in the Swedish town of Vittangi in Lapland. A temperature of -44.6 degrees was recorded there on January 5th of this year.
Until now, the cold record was -44.0 degrees in Storbo in northernmost Dalarna, which was measured on February 4, 2001.
