Spanish police have arrested a Swedish citizen suspected of making a bomb threat against a flight from Mallorca on which he himself was booked, reports the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, among others.

The threat was sent Thursday morning via the internet, claiming that there was an explosive device on board the aircraft, which was scheduled to take off the following day, Friday.

The message was sent from a computer at the hotel in the town of Alcúdia where the man was staying, according to the police, who state that the Swede could be identified through the digital traces he left behind.

The message was written in English, ”apparently through the use of an automatic translation service,” writes El Mundo.
– The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is aware that a Swedish citizen in his 20s is being held in Spain. We have no information about the criminal classification, says Anna Lundbladh, press communicator at the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to TT.
