The Blue Train is discontinuing service between Stockholm and Gothenburg. This is stated in an internal letter within AB Galia, which operated the train service, writes Göteborgs-Posten.
Galia was previously called Skandinaviska Jernbanor, and was filed for bankruptcy under that name last spring. However, the company managed to pay off the urgent debt that time.
The service is currently on summer break – and will not be resumed. According to the letter that GP has seen, Galia's board has decided to "discontinue operations urgently but in an orderly manner". Poor profitability is cited as the reason.
Trade Union Seko confirms that the staff on the trains have been laid off.
The Blue Train has been running between Stockholm and Gothenburg for eight years.
