Norwegian has produced a list of the ten most booked international travel destinations among Swedish travelers during the sports holidays.
Just like before Christmas, London comes in first place, followed by Malaga in second. The top five also includes long-haul destinations New York and Bangkok.
Among the most popular sports holiday destinations, seven out of ten are big cities and five of these are located in Europe. London, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Rome and Paris are all classic European city destinations that attract Swedish travelers throughout the year. The cities offer a rich culture, good food and great shopping opportunities. What's more, they are only a few hours' flight away.
Many also choose to travel further afield during their sports holidays. New York comes in fourth place and Bangkok in fifth place. Both cities offer world-class metropolitan life but otherwise attract with completely different experiences. Bangkok is a sun-sure destination with a rich Asian culture and exciting culinary experiences. In many cases, the city also serves as a starting point for travelers who want to get out into the Thai archipelago. New York, with its many attractions and great shopping opportunities, continues to be one of the most popular destinations among Swedish travelers, regardless of the season.
–The fact that both New York and Bangkok are among the five most booked sports holiday destinations shows that many Swedes appreciate being able to fly directly to long-haul destinations, says Norwegian's Head of Communications Charlotte Holmbergh Jacobsson.
