The work to develop a technical solution for a Swedish vaccination certificate is on schedule and is expected to be completed in just over five weeks, by June 1.
But it has not yet been decided when the proof will be launched.
The goal of having the vaccine certificates ready by June 1 was set by the Swedish Digital Administration Agency in early March, after being commissioned by the government to produce a digital vaccine certificate.
”"The time that has been available is minimal and no one thought that things would go as well as they actually do," says Mats Snäll, head of digital development at the authority, to Sveriges Radio Ekot.
Vaccination certificates will not be used within the EU for travel between countries until June 26. It is currently unclear whether the certificates will be widely used in Sweden before then, as the government must give the go-ahead.
”"We need to get some position on how we should proceed with the actual commissioning," Mats Snäll tells the radio.
The vaccination certificates, which will be issued digitally or on paper using e-ID, will indicate whether you are vaccinated, whether you have tested positive for COVID-19, and whether you have a recent negative COVID test.
