The luxury Chedi hotel in Andermatt, Switzerland, now accepts the cryptocurrencies Bitcoin and Ethereum as payment in transactions worth 200 Swiss francs (approximately SEK 1,900) or more, according to the Swiss newspaper Blick.
The hotel has been considering crypto payments for four years, according to the newspaper which refers to a press release from the hotel.
”"We have long been aware that cryptocurrencies also have a future in the hotel industry. In light of the increasing spread of, and acceptance of, cryptocurrencies, we are therefore proud to be one of the first Swiss luxury hotels to offer our guests cryptocurrencies as a secure means of payment," says hotel manager Jean-Yves Blatt there.
Cryptocurrencies are converted to Swiss francs at the time of payment.
At the time of writing, a room at the hotel in question between Saturday and Sunday this weekend costs from 900 Swiss francs, equivalent to approximately 8,500 kronor, and upwards.
