A train has derailed between Iggesund and Hudiksvall, the police say on their website.

At least two passenger cars have derailed, but there are no reports of injuries at the time of writing. By 2:30 p.m., all 120 passengers had been evacuated.

According to the police, the embankment has been undermined and collapsed due to heavy rain.

The accident occurred at 12:40 p.m., according to the Swedish Transport Administration. Police and emergency services were at the scene at 1 p.m.

"There are two carriages that have derailed and are standing next to the track. Those who were in the carriages are all okay and have been moved to the other carriages," says Martina Nord at SJ's press service.

SJ and the Swedish Transport Administration are working to evacuate the passengers from the train. Work will then begin on moving the derailed carriages.

"There will be a continued stop at the site for at least 24 hours. It is only when the carriages have been moved that we will be able to see if there has been any damage to the rails or sleepers," says Felicia Danielsson at the Swedish Transport Administration's press service.

There is a possibility of rerouting parts of the train traffic via Ånge, but travelers should expect delays, she says.

If you are going to travel by train, it may be a good idea to check with your train company or the Swedish Transport Administration to see what applies.
