An X2000 train has been stuck on the track between Stockholm and Gothenburg for an hour. 

– About 30 minutes outside Södertälje I heard bangs and the first carriage of the train started shaking really badly. We saw sparks and it started to smell smoke, a passenger tells Aftonbladet.

– People started running from carriage one to carriage two, when the same thing happened there. Several went to the bistro and asked for the train to stop.

They have been standing still for an hour outside in pitch darkness.

– At this point, they are asking key people on the train to help with the evacuation, says the passenger.

The witness states that approximately 200 people are now awaiting evacuation to an arriving train.

According to SJ's press service, the cause is wheel damage.

– We don't know exactly how the damage occurred or what type of wheel damage it is. It will be investigated. Now the most important thing is that the passengers are evacuated so that they can get to Gothenburg, says Martina Nord at SJ.

– The passengers will get their money back and it is only regrettable when something like this happens.
