The reopening of the Riga-Stockholm route, originally scheduled for April 6, 2022, has been postponed to June 3, 2022.

The decision to postpone the start of services is based on the sharp increase in global fuel prices and increased raw material costs due to the geopolitical situation. These factors make it impossible to operate Riga-Stockholm services profitably during April and May.

– We were fully prepared and ready to reopen the line on April 6 after a two-year hiatus. The ship Isabelle underwent maintenance at the beginning of the year and returned to its home port of Riga, ticket sales have been ongoing and the Latvian government recently announced that the majority of restrictions that had been linked to covid-19 would be lifted. Everything indicated that we had finally reached the point where we could restore maritime traffic between Latvia and Sweden. Now we have had to reevaluate our plans again and have made the decision to postpone the start of traffic on this line by a couple of months. Instead, we are now looking forward to opening the connection between Riga and Stockholm with full force again at the beginning of the summer, just in time for the high season, says Paavo Nõgene, CEO of Tallink Grupp in a comment.
