The extended support for short-term layoffs means that the cruise line Tallink Silja is now withdrawing its notice regarding 500 Swedish sailors that was given at the end of October.

”"We are extremely relieved that the government has now announced that the possibilities for short-term layoffs are being extended. We, like many other companies, have done everything we can during the first phase of the pandemic to adapt operations and manage the situation as best we can," says Marcus Risberg, CEO of Tallink Silja, in a written statement to TT.

For Tallink Silja, the government's decision means that Tallink Silja can now extend the system of short-term layoffs until the summer of 2021.
