TAP Air Portugal has introduced its new Airspacecabins in the fleet, with more space for luggage and increased comfort for passengers. The first plane with the new cabin, an A321neo named António Sérgio, made its maiden flight today between Lisbon and Warsaw. In total, the airline will receive 20 aircraft with the new cabin design by 2029.
The new cabins offer greater comfort with extra-large luggage racks (XL bins), adaptive LED lighting and more spacious toilets. The design focuses on a modern flying experience with clean lines and accessible interfaces, even for visually impaired travelers.
The new baggage racks have 37 % more volume and allow vertical loading (eight instead of five bags per rack). This makes it easier to both stow and retrieve carry-on baggage. An A320neo can hold 130 carry-on bags and an A321neo can hold a full 194.
All seats in the new A321 are equipped with both USB-A and USB-C sockets. The toilets are larger and have Braille signage.
By 2029, 20 new aircraft with Airspace cabins will be integrated into TAP's fleet – ten A320neo and ten A321neo. The latest A321neo has space for 221 passengers, of which 102 in Business/Economy Extra and 119 in Economy.
