The second largest airline in the United States, Delta Airlines, is one of the major companies that will kick off the reporting season and report an increased profit for the first quarter. The stock rises just over 2 percent in pre-trade.
Net income for the first quarter of this year is $730 million, equivalent to approximately SEK 6.8 billion. This is an increase of 31 percent compared to the result for the same quarter last year.
Sales increased by 5.1 percent year-on-year to just over $10 billion.
With adjusted earnings per share of 96 cents, the result was better than expected. Analysts had predicted adjusted earnings per share of 90 cents, according to Reuters.
The forecast for the second quarter is also higher than expected. Delta Airlines now forecasts earnings per share of between $2.05 and $2.35 per share. The midpoint of the range is slightly higher than the average forecast of $2.13 according to a Reuters analyst survey.
The stock is now up just under 2.2 percent in pre-market trading.
