Loose bolts have been discovered in several of Alaska Airlines' Boeing planes. This was stated by the airline's CEO in an interview following the dramatic emergency landing a couple of weeks ago.
The CEO Ben Minicucci's revelation occurs in an interview with the American television company NBC. He does not state how many of the company's planes have been found to have the same problem but only says that it concerns ”many”.
The background is the incident on January 5th when a door plug detached and an emergency exit door came loose on an Alaska Airlines plane, leaving a large hole in the aircraft at thousands of metres in the air. The plane was forced to make an emergency landing, but no one was harmed.
The American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has since decided to ground all Boeing aircraft of that model. There is no timeline for when the aircraft may be back in service.
