In March alone, revenue fell by 47 percent.
German airline Lufthansa releases preliminary figures for the first quarter showing that revenue decreased by 18 percent to 6.4 billion euros.
The preliminary adjusted operating profit for the first quarter amounted to -1.2 billion euros (compared to minus 336 million in the corresponding quarter last year). The company also expects asset write-downs and pressure from reduced value of various hedges, according to a press release. More information is promised in the report, which is postponed until the second half of May.
Lufthansa further writes that it currently has a liquidity of 4.4 billion euros. However, it expects a significant decline in this in the coming weeks and the company does not believe it will be able to borrow this need on the market. Lufthansa is in dialogue with governments in the company's home countries and management says it is confident that these talks will be successful.
