On Monday, the ground breaking ceremony for the expansion of Jönköping Airport was held.
An initiative that has not been hindered by the announcement of the canceled line between Jönköping and Frankfurt.
The expansion of the airport means that by winter there will be room for larger aircraft and the ability to receive biofuel.
Last Saturday, it was announced that the airline BMI, which operated the route between Jönköping and Frankfurt, has gone bankrupt and all departures have been canceled.
But this does not affect the airport or the construction, according to Rony Forsberg, CEO of Jönköping Airport.
– I will already be meeting with other potential operators on Wednesday and Thursday. We are still full of confidence and believe that we will have a strong and positive development going forward, says Rony Forsberg.
