Sweden's amusement parks are now starting a new season with shiny new rides, exciting shows and fantastic concerts. Last year, the amusement parks employed over 10,000 people, of which 9,000 were summer workers, many of them in their first job. The parks attracted nearly 5.8 million visitors, who together contributed to a total turnover of just over SEK 3.8 billion. This is shown by the new industry report from the Swedish Amusement Park Association.

Despite a recession where many households have smaller financial margins, amusement parks remain strong. Last year's total turnover increased by 6.1 percent compared to 2024 and amounted to SEK 3.84 billion.

In 2025, over 32.5 million rides were made on a total of 210 attractions, while interest in annual passes continued to increase, exceeding 305,000 passes sold. There were also 6,100 concerts and performances, and the number of overnight stays exceeded one million.

– Amusement parks continue to be an important driver for the Swedish tourism industry. We create jobs, drive tourism and offer experiences that mean a lot to people, especially in times when many need a break from everyday life, says Jan Eriksson, chairman of the Swedish Amusement Park Association.

The industry also continues to invest heavily in the future. In 2025, investments amounted to over SEK 660 million, with a focus on new attractions, sustainability and improved guest experiences.

Amusement parks are an important route into the job market for many young people. Of the more than 10,200 employees in 2025, almost 6,900 were under the age of 26. For many of them, it is their first job and an important start to their professional life.

– Sweden's amusement parks contribute significantly to employment and growth, but with the right conditions we can do even more. With reduced employer contributions for young people, we can give even more people a first job, and in order to attract more visitors, infrastructure with public transport and functioning roads is also absolutely central, continues Jan Eriksson.

The economic and job significance of theme parks extends far beyond the park gates. They contribute to increased tourism, strengthen local commerce, restaurants and hotels, and create growth throughout the region.
