”Worst year ever for aviation”

Remove

The Covid pandemic is making 2020 the worst year in the history of the aviation industry, and the big question is which airlines will survive the ordeal. Global passenger numbers are expected to drop by just over 60 percent this year.

According to the industry organization IATA, the total number of passengers in the world will fall from 4.5 billion in 2019 to 1.8 billion in 2020.

This throws the aviation industry back to 2003 levels. Several forecasts, from the Swedish Transport Agency, the airline industry association IATA and the European air traffic control organization Eurocontrol, believe that aviation will return to normal in four years at the earliest.
