Large parts of southern Sweden enjoyed high summer temperatures on Tuesday.

But now the temperature is dropping and this weekend it will turn into autumn for good.

On Tuesday, the highest Swedish daytime temperature was measured in Lund – 26.4 degrees. At nine of SMHI's stations in Skåne and Småland it has been around 25 and in a few places in southern Norrland the mercury has reached over 20.
– I would say that today was the ”peak,” says SMHI's on-call meteorologist Elisabeth Saarnak to TT.
– Tomorrow it will rise to around 20 for Götaland and eastern Svealand and possibly it could rise to 22–23 on the east coast of Götaland, but the warmest air will move further east during the night.
However, there has been no talk of record heat for September; that would have required a few more degrees.
– It is not very unusual to reach summer temperatures in September, but it is not every year that you reach high summer temperatures. The average daytime temperature in September in the southern half of Sweden is around 15–16 degrees, says Elisabeth Saarnak.

During Wednesday and Thursday it will become increasingly windy and on Thursday it will also start to become unstable.
– Then we have a deep low pressure that is expected to come in on Friday, then there will be a major change in weather for the weekend, says Saarnak.
