LFV, the Swedish Civil Aviation Administration, is giving notice of layoffs to 500 of its 1,100 employees. This is confirmed by press officer Per Fröberg.
This mainly concerns air traffic controllers positioned in Stockholm, Malmö, Gothenburg and Norrköping.
– That's half the authority. If the notice becomes a reality and the state does not help as it has done with the private airlines, Sweden will not be able to maintain air traffic once the wheels start rolling again after the pandemic, says Britta Lejon, union chairwoman at ST.
