On February 1, LFV's instructions will be updated with the mission to provide information and services that support unmanned aviation, both within and outside the country. LFV's Director General Ann Persson Griva's appointment is extended for another three years from April 1 to March 31, 2026.
– Leading the authority responsible for providing safe, efficient and environmentally friendly air navigation services is an important societal mission. Like the entire aviation industry, we at LFV are facing a future characterized by new conditions. I am proud and happy about the opportunity to continue as Director General.
– In recent years, the global situation, the pace of technological development and the power of climate change have affected the entire aviation sector and the air navigation services for which we are responsible. We are now facing exciting times. On the one hand, I see that we, as a provider of air navigation services for civil and military aviation, have an important role in building a functional total defense. In addition, we have now been given a new main task of providing services for planning and implementing flights for unmanned aviation. I am really looking forward to leading the Civil Aviation Administration into this new era, says Ann Persson Grivas, Director General of LFV.
With the updated instruction, the main tasks of the Swedish Civil Aviation Administration are to provide a safe, efficient and environmentally friendly air navigation service for civil and military aviation and services for unmanned aviation. The updated instruction means enabling unmanned aviation while maintaining flight safety in the lower parts of Swedish airspace to a greater extent than today. Services are to be provided for operators of societal importance, commercial drone operators and for hobby users with a focus on maintaining the safety of aviation and the public. Through the expanded mission, LFV can contribute to increased societal benefit for important transports and services that can be performed with the help of drones.
Continued confidence is also given to LFV's Director General, whose appointment is extended for another three years. Ann Persson Grivas took up her position as head of the authority on 1 April 2017 and has since led LFV's development for six years. With the extension, the work of running a robust, sustainable and future-oriented air navigation service for civil and military aviation continues.
