The government has announced that the entry ban for all countries outside the EU and EEA will be lifted from April 1. In addition, the requirement for proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test when entering Sweden will be abolished.
The decisions are made with reference to the fact that the Public Health Agency of Sweden assesses that entry restrictions are not a proportionate measure from an infection control perspective.
The entry ban was introduced in March 2020 to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and has been continuously extended during the pandemic. The entry ban for the Nordic countries and other EU and EEA countries was lifted earlier in February.
From April 1, Covid-19 will also not be classified as a disease that poses a public and societal threat in Sweden.
