Heat trend broken – July second warmest on record

For 13 consecutive months, the EU's climate service Copernicus has noted that the past month has been the warmest ever.

But July 2024 breaks the trend. It was ”only” the second warmest July ever, and the second warmest month ever, reports TT.

”Globally, July 2024 was almost as warm as July 2023, the hottest month on record. July 2024 had the two hottest days ever. The context has not changed, our climate is continuing to warm,” said Samantha Burgess, deputy head at Copernicus, in a press release.

This year's July was also rainier than usual in the Nordic countries, and other parts of Northern Europe.
