According to new statistics from Ticket, bookings have increased by almost 27 percent. Here are the cities with the biggest increases.
Other cities that have also seen large increases are Gdansk (+257 percent), Bilbao (+169 percent), Manchester (+103 percent), Paris (+102 percent) and Vienna (+96 percent). The trend shows that Swedes are seeking out both classic weekend cities and new up-and-coming destinations.
– Classic destinations like Paris continue to attract, while more unexplored cities are also climbing. Bilbao has emerged as a hot destination for restaurant-loving Swedes. Beautiful architecture, good food and exciting sights make the city well worth a visit this spring, says Tiyoneh Jah, PR and communications manager at Ticket.
The geopolitical and economic changes of recent years have also affected the travel habits of Swedes. It is clear that many choose affordable travel destinations and cities that are perceived as safe.
– Before the pandemic, many Swedes opened their eyes to both Moscow and Kiev and they rose to prominence as trending travel destinations. But given the current situation in the region, it feels strange that they once topped our bubble list, concludes Tiyoneh Jah.
