A man is still missing following the fire at Liseberg's water park Oceana. The fire reignited on Tuesday evening, with visible flames in the building's dome.
”We have several resources in place right now,” says Jörgen Beck from the rescue services.
A day after the extensive fire broke out, the rescue services appeared to have the situation under control. But by then, large parts of Liseberg's major investment, Oceana, had already been destroyed.
Per Nyqvist, the duty rescue manager, states that it was a dramatic course of events.
”Quite early on, some form of gas explosion occurred, a very explosive fire development that forced us to retreat,” he says at a press conference.
A man who worked on the project is missing after the fire and was still unaccounted for on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Per Nyqvist, the extensive damage and ongoing risk of collapse have made it impossible to search all parts of the fire area so far.
Police fear the man may still be inside the building.
”But we cannot say for sure, and we can only do that once we have searched the building,” says Peter Adlersson.
A further 16 people were slightly injured and received hospital treatment following the fire.
