With its nearly 700 square metres of Nordic-inspired design, the lounge, under the direction of star chef Pontus Frithiof, is American Express's largest in the Nordics to date.
It was at the end of March last year that American Express temporarily closed the popular haunt Amex Lounge by Pontus at Arlanda for extensive renovations. In the meantime, members have been welcomed to the Amex Pop Up Lounge at the gate area F in Terminal 5, but on Thursday 4 April, it was time to once again open the doors to completely renovated, twice as large premises.
With nearly 700 square metres, the new American Express Lounge by Pontus Frithiof is American Express's largest lounge in the Nordics to date, with a design inspired by Scandinavian nature, where Nordic beauty is reflected in everything from material choices and colours to furniture – a theme that also forms the basis for the design of the new Marketplace and Arlanda's other terminal sections.
- As part of Arlanda's ongoing development, it is especially pleasing that we are getting a completely new lounge and continuing our collaboration with American Express. It is highly anticipated that the new American Express Lounge by Pontus Frithiof is now opening in the Market Square in Terminal 5 and that we are continuing to develop and fulfil our promise to our travellers of smooth, inspiring experiences where the airport becomes a meeting place in itself, says Charlotte Ljunggren, Director of Marketing and Sales at Swedavia.
The American Express Lounge by Pontus Frithiof will be run by the renowned Michelin-starred chef Pontus Frithiof – the face of Nordrest's fine dining restaurant La Girafe by Pontus Frithiof, which opened at Marknadsplatsen in March, as well as the Italian-American restaurant Little Italy, which will open its doors in autumn 2024, also at Marknadsplatsen under Nordrest's management. Pontus Frithiof has composed the lounge's menu with dishes such as traditional shrimp sandwiches, classic salmon salads, and various hot and vegetarian options. At a beautifully set table, American Express members will also be offered a wide selection of drinks that have been carefully chosen to complement the menu – from locally brewed beers, well-selected wines, and champagne to several tasty non-alcoholic options.
The opening of our new American Express Lounge by Pontus Frithiof at Arlanda is part of our ongoing international commitment to offering our members premium benefits, exceptional service, and first-class experiences. We know from experience that access to a relaxing environment, exclusive amenities, and the enjoyment of fine food and drink before departure is highly valued by our members, and we look forward to welcoming them to our new lounge and giving them the absolute best start to their journey, says Philip Trocmé, Country Manager, Nordics at American Express.
The American Express Lounge by Pontus Frithiof is open Monday to Friday from 5 am to 6 pm, Saturday from 5 am to 3 pm, and Sunday from 5 am to 6 pm, and welcomes all American Express Centurion and Platinum members.
