The airline SAS and the pilot unions are now negotiating without a mediator, Swedish mediator Jan Sjölin tells Swedish Radio. He sees it as a good sign that the conflict can be resolved.

Last night, it was announced that SAS and the pilot unions had agreed to continue negotiations. The threat of a strike was thus postponed by three days.

Jan Sjölin, who has been tasked by the Swedish Mediation Institute to try to reconcile the parties, tells Sveriges Radio that the parties are now talking to each other without the involvement of mediators. He sees this as a good sign that the conflict can be resolved.

”"It is progress that the partners communicate with each other on a fruitful level. We mediators interfere as little as possible, as long as the parties are able to talk directly to each other, a third party is often a burden," he tells the radio.

SAS shares are going against the grain on the gloomy Thursday stock market and are trading up 1.5 percent.
