In several parts of the country, passport offices have had problems with passports piling up because they are not being collected.

Now 50,000 completed passports are waiting to be picked up in Stockholm County alone, the police write on their website. 

According to the police's basic rule, the passport remains in the possession of the police for three months. If it is not collected before then, it will be destroyed.
