It does not look particularly bright for the train industry's ability to reach the goal of fewer delays by 2020, according to the Swedish Transport Agency and Trafikaanalys, which is reviewing the work on delays.

”"Punctuality has not improved and we have not seen any decisive steps in the right direction. They will definitely not reach the target by 2002," says Michael Stridsberg, investigator at the Swedish Transport Agency, to Svenska Dagbladet.

To address train delays, the rail industry has previously set a common goal for 2020 that 95 percent of trains should arrive on time. However, the work has lagged behind and for a long time 90 percent of trains have been on time. Last year, delays also increased and only 88 percent of trains were on time, according to the newspaper.
