SJ: "The trains are not full"”

Over the weekend, there have been reports that some train carriages have been fully booked, despite promises from SJ that there will be distance between passengers.

– This is because our booking system is not adapted to a pandemic situation and it works in such a way that it books up one carriage at a time, says Tobbe Lundell, SJ's press manager.

There is a big difference in Christmas travel this year compared to other years.

– At the beginning of November it is usually sold out. Now there is not even a train that is half full, says Tobbe Lundell.

Several measures have been taken by SJ, says Tobbe Lundell, and there should be plenty of space on the trains to keep distance.

– The trains are not full and there is the possibility of spreading out with the help of the staff. That is what happened this weekend, the train was not full but it happened to feel that way in one carriage, says Tobbe Lundell.

”A responsibility you must take yourself”

At the same time, SJ cannot guarantee that travel is completely infection-proof because the journey will, after all, take place with other people.

– You should be very aware of traveling by public transport, by definition you do it with others and it is a responsibility you must take yourself, to embark on such a journey, says Tobbe Lundell.
