The airline SAS is being reviewed again by the Swedish Consumer Agency after a series of reports were received by the authority from dissatisfied travelers, writes the Siren news agency.
In total, the Swedish Consumer Agency has received 168 reports about, among other things, long waits for refunds and inadequate assistance with canceled flights this year through August 15, according to Siren.
”SAS "SAS +1.88% stands out in the statistics this year when it comes to registered airlines," says Maja Lindstrand, a lawyer at the Swedish Consumer Agency, to the news agency.
SAS's press manager Anna Sandell explains the high number of reports by saying that the company was in an extreme situation.
”"We have been in an extraordinary situation given the 15-day strike where 30,000 passengers were affected daily. We have received an extremely high number of cases related to the strike. It will take time for us to go through them. We have deployed all the resources we have to handle the cases,", says Anna Sandell to DN.
During the first years of the pandemic, SAS also had major problems with refunds to travelers affected by canceled flights and ended up under the supervision of the Swedish Consumer Agency. The supervision was ended in the spring of 2021 after the company demonstrated that all refunds had been made.
A traveler who are entitled to a refund for a flight that did not take place, compensation must be made within seven days according to the basic rule.
