Revenue from tourism in Stockholm County has decreased by 41 billion during the pandemic, which corresponds to more than a halving compared to the previous year, according to figures from Visita.

The biggest loss is from foreign tourists, where revenue decreased by 80 percent, or 22 billion. But the restrictions also affected domestic tourism.

– It is a crisis we have never seen before that is hitting jobs and companies in Stockholm extremely hard. But the crisis continues and the risk is that even more jobs will disappear if the government's promised support is not paid out immediately, says Jonas Siljhammar, CEO of Visita, in a press release.

Jonas Siljhammar believes that it is crucial that the restrictions are eased as soon as the infection situation allows, in order to have a chance to save jobs for spring and summer.
