Today, many people believe that the train is the most environmentally friendly means of transportation on vacation, but in fact, the coach is three times as climate-smart as the train.
This is shown by statistics produced by the Swedish Tourist Coach Companies, the German Ministry of the Environment, the EU European Environmental Agency, RDA and Ecopar.
“Many people know that the coach is environmentally friendly, but not that it is more environmentally friendly than the train,” says Jeanette Larsson, Marketing Manager at Scandorama and Ölvemarks Holiday. To increase awareness of this, we have chosen to highlight the climate-smart benefits of the coach in our marketing communication.
The compilation produced by the Swedish tourist bus companies, the German Ministry of the Environment, the EU European Environmental Agency, RDA and Ecopar shows that the train's carbon dioxide emissions are more than three times as large as that of a coach, calculated per 100 passenger kilometres. The measurement refers to a Euro 6 engine in a bus and for trains an average of European train journeys. Coaches have lower emissions than any other vehicle at average occupancy.
