The Göta Canal tours have been cancelled for the past two years due to the pandemic. When they reopened, Stromma is seeing a strong booking pressure. Occupancy is higher than before the pandemic and Germans in particular want to go on the Göta Canal this summer.

– Finally, we can welcome guests to Göta Kanal again. The anticipation has been great and we see great interest, with bookings at a higher level than the corresponding time the year before the pandemic, says Peter Henricson, Sweden manager at Stromma, which owns Rederi AB Göta Kanal.
For the past two years, foreign tourists, who make up a large part of the guests on the Göta Canal, have had difficulty getting to Sweden. Now the restrictions have been lifted and they can travel as before.
– Traveling on the Göta Canal is what is called a once-in-a-lifetime experience for guests. For the Germans, the Göta Canal is very special because it has been shown in a TV documentary, among other things. In addition to the Germans, we also see great interest from mainly Switzerland and Denmark, says Peter Henricson.
