Six new space tourists have been on a brief journey of a few minutes of weightlessness. The six traveled aboard Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket, which made its first manned flight in two years.
On board were, among others, 90-year-old Edward Dwight, who is now the oldest person to have traveled to space, barely two months older than "Star Trek" actor William Shatner was on his trip with Blue Origin in 2021.
In the 1960s, Dwight was close to becoming the world's first black astronaut, but was then sidelined.
– I was the first person in the world to be famous for doing nothing. Of course I'm overwhelmed now, Dwight said shortly before leaving on Sunday.
The trip was the seventh manned mission for Blue Origin, owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. A total of 31 people have now visited space on these trips. The next trip is scheduled for June.
