The Indonesian tourist destination Bali attracts many visitors – including Swedes. Now the country's government hopes that the tropical island can open to tourists again in October.
Bali has so far reported 343 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and four deaths, which is significantly lower than other parts of Indonesia. If the situation continues in the right direction, the tourism ministry is aiming to partially reopen some destinations in October, such as Bali, Yogyakarta and the Riau Islands.
Tourism is a major source of income for Indonesia, and in March, international arrivals to the country fell by 60 percent compared to the previous year.
