There are now several players on the market that offer corona tests and travel certificates. But the prices for the same types of tests can vary greatly on the Swedish market – ranging from 475 kronor up to 2250 kronor.
Tests for travel certificates are not included in the state-funded testing for suspected COVID-19. This means that anyone who needs to be tested before traveling must cover the cost themselves.
Big price differences
An antigen test including a travel certificate can cost anywhere from SEK 475 to SEK 2,250. According to Johan Sahl, Head of the Market Abuse Unit at the Swedish Competition Authority, the reason for the price variation is the weak competition, the high demand and the ignorance that exists among consumers.
– As a consumer, you depend on knowing what you are buying in order to be able to compare prices. It is more difficult when you have an information disadvantage like we have now. We cannot hold and feel the product, says Johan Sahl to SVT.
