Summer means peak travel season and Norwegian has investigated which foreign destinations are most popular among Swedish travelers during the upcoming summer weeks. Norwegian operates a total of 350 routes to nearly 130 destinations during the summer months.

The Swedish summer can be absolutely wonderful, but since you can't rely on the Swedish weather, many people take the opportunity to travel abroad for guaranteed sun and warmth or to get a change of scenery and experience something new.

Even during the upcoming holidays, it is mainly Spain that attracts the most. Of the ten most popular destinations among Swedish travelers, it is the Spanish destinations Malaga, Alicante and Barcelona, along with London, that are the most popular. But also Nice, Rome, Palma, Berlin, Paris and Split are very popular holiday destinations this summer.

–There is a lot of interest in traveling this summer, so we are pleased to be able to offer a large and varied route network at competitive prices. Sweden is a priority market and will see the largest capacity growth of all our markets this year. From Stockholm Arlanda we operate around 50 international routes and we also fly internationally from Gothenburg Landvetter, Stockholm Skavsta and Växjö Småland, says Charlotte Holmbergh, Director of Communications at Norwegian.

This spring, Norwegian has also started new direct routes from Stockholm Arlanda to Porto, Bilbao, Bucharest, Lyon and Las Palmas. Both Lyon and Las Palmas have previously been served during the winter months, but new for this year is that they are also served during the summer. The new routes have been well received and are popular destinations.

The most popular foreign destinations among Swedish travelers during July and August:

  • London
  • Málaga
  • Alicante
  • Barcelona
  • Nice
  • Rome
  • Palma
  • Berlin
  • Paris
  • Split
